About This Course

CSC1002 – Computer Applications is offered by the Department of Statistics and Computer Science of the Faculty of Science at the University of Peradeniya. This course provides a basic understanding and a hands-on experience on computers, microcomputer applications and cloud-based document handling applications.

You will learn about Google Services and the Microsoft Office 365 Package suite throughout this course. Successful completion of this course will enable you to create professional documents, manage data using spreadsheets and design electronic presentations, efficiently and effectively using the three main Office 365 Packages – Word, Excel and PowerPoint. This course will provide explanatory videos and quizzes to keep you on track throughout the lecture series.

• Module 1 of this course will briefly introduce the Google services and the Microsoft Office 365 Package suite.
• Module 2 will help you to get an understanding about Office 365 Word, where you will learn word processing and document management.
• Module 3 will teach you how to manage spreadsheets using Office 365 Excel and use advanced Excel functions.
• Module 4 introduces Office 365 PowerPoint, through which you will learn about creating and managing electronic presentations.
